Gas Below $2.00 per gallon

That’s right folks, gas has dropped to less than $2.00 per gallon in parts of Berkeley County in South Carolina. It seems that new Walmart opened recently in the Monks Corner area and started a price war with their Murphy gas station. On Thursday 11/17/05 the price at Walmart was $1.989 per gallon witha Walmart gift or credit card.

Several other stations in the area lowered their prices to compete with Walmart. This seems to prove that gas prices do not have to be as high as most stations are charging because these other stations were able to quickly lower their prices when a little competition came to town.

NOTE: I have recently removed Haloscan comments and trackbacks from this blog. I will restore comments and trackbacks shortly for this posting. Thank you for your patience.

Scenes from my gas guzzling SUV. Gas prices are now where they were one year ago and inflation is slowing because of this return…. Let’s hope that this reduces the idiotic push for a windfall profits tax and demonization of oil companies. Woops….

$1.99 from Mind in the Qatar

Yep, that was what a gallon of regular gas cost right outside of work this afternoon. And we are not the only place…. Since I am a shareholder of Exxon-Mobile, I am extremely dissappointed! ..

[...] I realized I had a problem with my SiteMeter statistics when I got a link in from the Instapundit a couple of weeks ago on my Gas Below $2 per Gallon posting. I knew I should have seen more than my average 30 visits per day to The Land of Ozz. I just found the problem today. I did not have the TTLB or SiteMeter scripts running on my archive pages. Soooo, all the links that came directly to postings either from search engines or from other blogs were not showing in my SiteMeter stats. Even though the link from Glenn Reynolds came in on a Friday afternoon, it still brought me almost 1000 unique. My site meter statistics registered only 50 visits that day and the light came on. I was just about ready to can the SiteMeter script or worse just stop blogging because it appeared that no one was reading. I am glad I found my error before getting all bent out of shape and writing a nasty about SiteMeter or TTLB for that matter. [...]
