Hollywood seems to simply ignore trends and make whatever they want. Both Moulin Rouge and Chicago were successful modern musicals. Then they made the atrocious film version of The Producers (which had a lot of problems), it flopped, and thus Hollywood decided that musicals don't work on screen.

The Passion of the Christ made boatloads of money, but no one in Hollywood will get behind any more religious-themed pictures.

Yet they churn out action blockbuster after action blockbuster and the vast majority of these utterly tank.

It makes no sense.

I'm with you, Ozz.

I would think that after Mr. Gibson hit it big with "The Passion" the producers in H-Wood would have got the hint. But no. It doesn't appear that way.

At least this one is out there. Perhaps it is just a humble beginning, a sign of good things to come. But I'll not hold my breath. (I like breathing.)

FYI: I did a survey a year ago for college and found that 90% of the people polled were also in favor of bringing back the classic American musical. But H-Wood didn't listen to that either. (Hmmmph!!!)
