Michael A. Monsoor - Hero

You don’t read about stories like this very often in the media. Thank God for soldiers like Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor who make the ultimate sacrifice. He saved his fellow Navy Seals by throwing himself on a grenade while fighting in Iraq.

Other SEALS described the Garden Grove, Calif., native as a modest and humble man who drew strength from his family and his faith.

I wrote about Michael Monsoor last week on my Hero Workshop blog. You’re absolutely right - heroes should not be forgotten. They should be celebrated and talked about. Unfortunately I haven’t seen too much coverage of this heroic act.

    Matt,

Thanks for the comment. I agree that we see way too little of this kind of stuff covered these days. I am sure there are many other instances that go unreported to the general public.

First off, thanks for honoring my friend. Mike and I were great friends and I lost of piece of me on September 29th, 2006. I was in communication with Mike all through his tour in Iraq and he honestly loved doing what he did. Friends and people don’t come very often like Mike and we should all sleep well, knowing that this hero went out his way and for everything he loved. Mike was the closest to the door out and could of easily ran out and saved himself, but instead gave his life for his brothers. I went to the funeral and it was one of the hardest things to witness.

    Thanks again!

Love you brother and your brothers haven’t forgot about you!
